Gadsden State Community College is offering an opportunity for upcoming high school juniors and seniors to take advantage of the 2015-2016 Early College Enrollment Program (ECEP). ECEP, now in its ninth year at Gadsden State, enables students who have an interest in high-wage/high-demand technical majors to work toward a college degree with free tuition provided, while completing their requirements for high school graduation. The program is a partnership between the Alabama Community College System, State Department of Education, Governor’s Office of Workforce Development, and the Department of Postsecondary Education.

Anniston Army Depot's Pathway Program

Anniston Army Depot will recruit students (upcoming seniors) for the 2015-2016 school term, under the new Pathways Internship Program.AAD expects to fill 15 positions with students who are committed to gaining valuable work experience and a possible job placement in the skilled trade area of diesel mechanics. They anticipate the Trades Worker (Student Trainee) position will be announced January-February 2015 timeframe. This will be the only timeframe which candidates can apply.
There has been one major change in applying for the intern (former co-op) program at Anniston Army Depot. All intern vacancies must be publicly announced through USAJOBS, the US government portal for federal service positions. Due to this change, candidates must register and apply through USAJOBS. The website is www.usajobs.gov. Registration information for the USAJOBS portal is attached in the email.
Because of the public job announcement and recruiting restraints, the AAD staff will not conduct individual school briefings. If you are interested and would like to arrange a meeting to discuss the program’s overview, please contact me to coordinate a date and time.
I will send out a notice through this website, as well as Facebook once the job has posted. Selected students will start the program August 2015 and participate during their senior year. If you are interested in this program, please let me know ASAP!!! Thanks!

UA Rural Health Scholars Program

A five-week summer program for rising high school seniors from rural Alabama, the Rural Health Scholars Program gives students a chance to experience college life. Scholars live on campus, take two colleges for credit (CH 104-Introduction to Chemistry and EN 200-Creative Writing), a seminars and field trips, and receive orientation about health careers.
Participants will reside in University housing for the five weeks. Females and males will be housed in the building but on separate floors. Depending on the building the program will be housed will determine if there will be community showers and bathrooms or not.
Tuition, room, meal tickets, and books will be provided at no cost to the participants. The only cost to those selected will be a $35 admission application fee to The University of Alabama, a fee for a parking decal (if you bring a car or truck) and spending money. The program is made possible by State of Alabama Legislature through the Family Practice Rural Health Board.
